National Honor Society Tutoring

FREE Tutoring!

The National Honor Society (NHS) is offering FREE tutoring after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:45-4:45. This is a great opportunity for you (or your student) to receive a little extra help....and did we mention it is FREE?

A few things to keep in mind if you are going to attend the after school tutoring sessions:

1.Students must sign up the day before the tutoring session you are attending. The sign up sheet is outside Mrs. Umberger's door (A9). This allows NHS time to plan and make sure enough tutors are available in the necessary subject areas.

2.No cell phones out in the library. This is a time to study and focus-not a time to check social media or text.

3.Students must have a ride scheduled prior to coming to tutoring. Again, we want to be focused on our academics-not worrying about a ride.

4.Students not receiving tutoring services will not be allowed to "hang out" in the library-even if they are providing transportation for another student. We are doing this is to help students stay focused; not punish them.

5. Students should have all necessary materials for the subject they are receiving tutoring services. Example; if you have signed up for Algebra tutoring, you should have your Algebra book, notebook, pencil, notes from class, and a calculator.  NHS will not provide materials for students, nor will students be allowed to go to their locker after entering the library.

6. In addition to having all necessary materials, students will need to have a page number reference and an objective to cover during the tutoring session. Students should get this information from their teacher.

These guidelines are designed to make everything run as smoothly as possible. We want our students to get as much out of tutoring as they can.

If you have any questions about NHS Tutoring, please email Mrs. Umberger, NHS Sponsor, at amanda.umberger@dcsms.org.
